Made for March: Aquamarine, the March Birthstone
Could someone please tell us where the first two months of 2014 have gone? It doesn’t seem like that long ago that we were in the hustle and bustle of Christmas. Yet, here we are discussing March birthdays!! How does that happen? Some our favorite celebrities are probably wondering the same thing. Here are some that will be celebrating their birth this month:
The birthstone for March is the Aquamarine. Derived from the Latin
word combination aqua and marina, the gemstone was believed to protect
sailors as well as guarantee a safe voyage. Nowadays, a trip across the sea
on a boat is not exactly how we might choose to travel, so we enjoy the stone
for its serene color. Aquamarine is said to cool the temper, which can
allow the wearer to remain calm and levelheaded. Do we even need to mention
how the color itself reminds us all of spring? Probably not, but it doesn’t hurt! Aquamarine is most often light in tone and can range from greenish-blue to
blue-green, and the larger stones tend to be more vibrant in color.
The Aquamarine gemstone is mined mainly in Brazil, but can
also be found in Nigeria, Madagascar, Zambia, Pakistan and Mozambique.
